Are you Tired of the cold weather?

Well so are we. We have been driving to indoor Skate Parks all over the Tri State Area. I about had enough of it.

So I am writing this post to remind you about Project Spark NY. Which is a petition to turn this old abandoned airplane hangars in the New Dorp area of Staten Island into New York City’s first skate park. The hangars are owned by the national parks service and have not been used in years.  Please click the link below and sign the petition.

Burn your wack Floppy Tongue DC Sneakers!

Posted by on Nov 8, 2010 in Events, News, Random | 0 comments

Phoenix, AZ, November 8th, 2010-

In late August 2010, Phoenix city officials accepted a $50,000 donation
from the Rob Dyrdek/DC Shoes Skate Plaza Foundation to build what will be
Phoenix’s 5th skatepark.  The Bike, Blade and Board Coalition (The 3BC)
has confirmed, straight from the mouth of the marketing director of the
Rob Dyrdek/DC Shoes Skate Plaza Foundation, that the contract they are
making with the city of Phoenix states that the city must ban kids who
ride bikes from the new skatepark when it opens.

In light of DC’s title support of this foundation and their discriminatory
activities, The 3BC is proud to announce The Great DC Shoe Burn!  The 3BC
will be hosting a giant burning of DC shoes, apparel, banners, stickers
and any other crap they have their name on at the site of the planned
skatepark.  Prizes will be given to top donors!

The event will be held at 7PM on Saturday, December 11th at Margaret T.
Hance Park (Deck Park) just North of downtown Phoenix.

We are seeking more sponsors for the event, so e-mail 3BC President Jason
Ryan at jason@psychicflyingmonkey.com to support Phoenix BMX riders in
their fight.

Phoenix currently has 4 public skateparks, the first of which opened in
1998.  None of these skateparks, almost entirely funded by Phoenix
taxpayers, allow bike riders.  Phoenix BMX riders have attended city
council and parks and recreation board meetings, endured extensive talks
with parks and recreation officials, written letters and e-mails to
officials and staged protests at Phoenix skateparks only to be wholly
ignored by the city leadership.

The Bike, Blade and Board Coalition was founded in 2003 with these primary
goals:

To encourage and assist cities in building more and bigger skate/bike
parks to prevent overcrowding.

To encourage and assist cities in building skate/bike parks using
qualified, experienced skatepark designers and builders.

To work with youth-centered organizations, such as churches and YMCA’s, to
assist them in meeting their objectives while encouraging unity among
skateboarders, bike riders, and inline skaters.

To encourage and assist cities in building skate/bike parks that separate
participants by ability rather than user type.

At the Meeting there was an amazing amount of kids, people, and parents from the Ben Soto Skate Park. Every group from Bike Riders, Skate Boarders, Roller Bladers, and Scooter Riders attended. Together we lobbied for the Project Spark proposed indoor skatepark and for the remodeling of the EXISTING Ben Soto Skate Park. We would like to say thanks to RoseAnn and Joe McAllister, as well as the rest of  South Beach Civic Association for letting us speak, and  N.Y.C. Comptroller John Liu , Parks Commissioner Long for listening to us. Also thank you  to Jack Ryan for speaking on be half of all of us.

Pier 25 Skate Plaza is about to open soon. But I already rode it. If you Build you are usually the first to  ride or skate it.
I worked on the skate Plaza all summer. At the end on the beautiful summer, one day we were the first to ride it. Check out the video below. Lets see if the Hudson park Trust wakes up and lets bikes in the other park they run now since A bike rider helped build this one. Hey our tax dollars paid for it.

On Sunday October 3rd. I was one of the 1500 lucky people who got a small tour of the old Flesh Kills land Fill. Which in a few years will be the Flesh Kills Park. Sounds crazy but I seen this before in Virginia Beach, Virginia. There is actually a skate park there called Mount Trashmore. Yes that is not a typo of Rush more its Trashmore.

See the amazing photos and Video below.
