Skate Videos and why I watch them.
Believe it or not. I love to watch skate video’s.
They have some amazing spots in skate videos for one.
And 2nd I like skating because it is mainly a technical driven sport. I don’t know the names of the tricks so I call them by BMX names. Kick flip is a bar spin to me. When they Manuel on the front I call it a nose wheelie.
BMX started after skateboarding if you didn’t know. Some of the tricks do have the same names actually.
Here is a video and I really like the banger in the end.
Hope you enjoy.

Natas Kaupas
Ryan Humphrey sent this to me. I had to post it. Natas Kaupas is an amazing skate boarder. Way ahead of his time. Check out him spin on the fire hydrant. Amazing.
Here is a Bio of him also.

Abandoned Building
I love how some Abandoned Building can be the coolest place to be.
Here is a good edit of a group of Skateboarders who took over an old Garden Center somewhere.
They utilized natural banks, set up ledges, and used random things to skate.

Know Your Enemy – An E-mail That Shut Bikes Out
I really don’t know where to start with this. A big part of me wants to keep my own opinions out of it because it’s important for everyone to see what happens behind the scenes and what one person can do when they’re out to make a difference (for right or wrong). This unnamed parent could easily have been a BMX rider’s; concerned for their own child’s safety on the street, because they’re not allowed to ride in their local skatepark. Instead, we have a close-minded, borderline bigot (”pound first,” “don’t have a gun to go to the ghetto,” etc.), who managed to change the local policy to shut out riders. I can guarantee that the words below, although it is a hefty read, will evoke some sort of reaction out of you. And that’s the point. You need to know that people are against BMX. What those people fail to realize is that they’re not just shutting out “a sport” from a park, but they’re essentially pushing kids off a playground.

IRVINE, Calif. — The Maloof Money Cup skateboarding competition is expanding to New York City this year.
Joe and Gavin Maloof, who own the NBA’s Sacramento Kings, said Tuesday they will hold Maloof Money Cup New York on June 5-6 at Flushing Meadows Park in Queens, featuring a street skateboarding competition. The winner will earn $100,000.
Andy Kessler art show
Last night Ed, Gelly, Mary and I headed into the city to check out the Andy Kessler art show. It was really crowded and stunk like B.O. but there was free vitamin water and lots of sweet artsy stuff. Here are some photos.

This one was probably the highlight of the show for me and Ed. It’s a photo of Kevin Cook shredding Staten Island’s first skatepark back in 1979. And all you little fuckers thought you were shredding Staten Island’s first skatepark. Why dont they make plexi-glass ramps anymore?
