Cars Vs. BMX
There comes a time in every riders life where they reach a tough decision. It happens around the age of 17. You never think it will happen to you or any of your friends, but you will soon be proven wrong. This decision is whether to continue to ride your bike day after day, or to drop it all for a car.
As hard as you try, there will always be some kids that will quit for a car.
For those of you that stick with it, congratulations, you have made it past the rough and the rest of the path is smooth
But for those of you that get sunk in to the trend, like many BMX legends of Shaolin have, please be smart about it.
Most of you may be sitting at your computer thinking to yourself “now how can i be smart about such a stupid decision?”, well there is hope, not much, but it is there.
Take Vin Formisano and John Reilly for example. These are two of Shaolin’s best that quit riding for their cars, but they got into fats cars. Vin drove a Nissan 350z, and John drove a Nissan Skyline. These are 2 very fast cars that are actaully worth dropping money into.
Flip the page, next chapter, new novel, next track. Andrew Paino, Chris Busseti and Victor DeVirgilio. 3 great guys with a lot of talent. They fell into the path of quitting for their cars. The only difference is that they got into the Volkswagen trend. Volkswagens are nice, for the look i guess. But dropping all of that money into your slow car to make it not as slow seems like a huge waste, especially since you gave up all of your talent for it.
Volkswagens are the scooters of Cars, a lot of effort put in, and nearly nothing in return. So please, if your going to quit riding for a car, make sure the car is worth it
Yours Truly,
Steve Quigley

Random iPhone photos
We have been slacking with the posts since thanksgiving gave us that sweet 4 day weekend, but now it’s time to get back on track and post some random bullshit that few people will find funny/interesting.
This is Tom’s ancient PowerBook G4 which is currently in pieces on my coffee table. I was in the process of changing the hard drive (That big thing on the lower left corner) until I realized that the one I was going to replace it with is SATA and not PATA. How silly.
This is Guy doing an impression of Alexis. Alexis says he bought a house somewhere in Jersey but it looks to me like he just rolled out of his cardboard box.
Fireplaces are sweet. This is from my uncles house during a delicious Thanksgiving day dinner.
This is a giant Darth Vader Pez dispenser that can be found on Mary’s windowsill right next to some Jesus statues.
Tom loves this shit. It tastes like a Jolly Rancher on steroids… that will get you drunk.
This is the view a Third Ave from one of the offices at my job. I don’t even have a window in my cubicle.
This is Brother’s pizza after a nice shred session. Staten Island has got some good pizza.
This is Ivan’s license plate.
This is Kane, the Australian who slept on my couch. He woke up not knowing where he was due to excessive alcohol consumption. He was kicked out of the bar because the bouncer said he was smoking crack in the bathroom.
This is the bar we were kicked out of because of our Australian crack head friend. Delicious German beer coupled with some sausage and sauerkraut. I love this place.
Ed Pollio doesn’t drink so he only goes to bars where he can play vintage video games. Ed is really good at beer tapper.
DONT TOUCH MY JUNK. Stay classy CNN.
Ed doesn’t even call Gelly this much.
Typical day at work. Lunch at Benjamins. Fucking delicious.
Kinda hard to see but his dread locks are pretty much touching the floor. Spotted on the Staten Island Ferry.
Don’t ever let Vin Formisano give you a haircut.
This was obviously not taken on my iPhone but it is still funny. I tell Ed to stop posting political bullshit unless it’s BMX related, so this is for him.
Old riding pictures
Around 3 years ago I fucked up while upgrading my computer and accidentally erased all of my stuff. Years of pictures were lost with the click of a button. I gave up looking for the photos for a while but then remembered that my friend Sebastian had most of my pictures backed up. Heres a few of the riding photos I thought would be funny to post, but theres a ton more. Most of these are from 2003-2005.
The man that saved my photos. Sebastian – Fufanu on the 5 foot quarter back railing during the first contest at the Ben Soto skatepark circa 2005. I think to this day he is the only one to do this. Too bad he gave up riding for studying.
Augie – Flipwhip over the big box at the Ben Soto skatepark contest of 2005.
I could not believe this picture when I saw it. Little Mike when he was still little. Little Mike blew away the competition in the beginner class and took home the win. I remember for his last trick he landed a feeble to barspin on the side of the big box jump. Things change fast.
Here’s little mike training hard with a barspin drop in as Vin Formisano creepily looks on. Check out the writing on Mike’s helmet.
Yours truly with a dog piss air. Check out how new the ramps look, crazy how destroyed they are now 5 years later. Also notice the lack of the spine, I don’t know how we lived without it.
Vin Formisano blasting the 6 foot as a young Little Dyke looks on.
Sebass getting high at Hackettstown. Now he gets high on the smell of new books.
This picture used to hang up on the wall to the entrance of Hackettstown skatepark until Shane stole it and put it up in his apartment.
This was right after I built my new Kink Freebird frame. This was probably around 2003, before cassettes, pivotals, and integrated seat post clamps.
Eat. Sleep. Ride.
Chris Neighbors riding the bull. Checkout the sidekick in between those giant laptops.
Paino with a big fufanu some years back at Lakewood. I really liked this setup, I used to be there almost every weekend.
Spam flexing hard on the wall slap at lakewood.
Scotty Cranmer flairing the sky at Lakewood.
In 2004 me, Sebastian, Gerry Lyle and Scotty took a road trip down to florida for the UGP Roots Jam. This is before Scotty was hot shit and had 12 exotic cars and a 20 bedroom house. This was taken in North Carolina at my friend Spencer’s Mini Ramp. Scotty took first place at Roots this year and went home with his parents instead of us cause he was annoyed by the drinking. What a wuss.
Spam got really drunk, cheated on his girlfriend and then passed out in his own puke at one of Sebastian’s parties. After taking this picture we all chipped in for a cab to take him home.
The last year I was at Woodward during the summer was 2005 when I worked as a dish dog. Paino was there as a camper and we made it our mission to learn backflips. This is my first attempt on a real box.
Here is Paino’s first attempt. He did about 2 more and never did them again. Instead he opted for 10 foot flairs.
Cabin 23Bupsy. This was when I was a camper in 2003.
Me and my boy Allistair Whitton just hanging out like we always do at Roots Jam 2003.
Icepick grind at South Beach on the 7 foot quarter. This still is my favorite place I have ever ridden.
Theres a ton more photos and some videos that I’m gonna post up a little later. Check back soon for more.
Green Machine

Vin Formisano has a new bike. The Green Monster. Watch out for him cruising on the Staten Island Parking lot this summer.
Carbondale Pennsylvania
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XppS7aFRt2Q
The Boys went camping and quad riding on December 5th in Carbondale Pennsylvania. This town was once a big coal town. Funny it is named Carbondale very similar to Carbon Dioxide. Because when the Power plants that burn coal to produce electric emit a by product called Carbon Dioxide which is bad for our eco system. AKA Global Warming . Smartin up shut the lights off fools!
